PeopleVote.US Mission Statement

The vision is to provide an online method for the public to vote in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. We can prove it can be done more efficiently and more honestly than our current ballot-box system.

All data and processes will be open to review to ensure accuracy and validity of each and every vote.

For the upcoming 2024 Presidential election everyone should use both this online voting site and the current methodology. That way there can be a comparison. Our hope and expectation is we will have a much higher online turnout and in the future all elections can be managed solely online.

Online Voting

One of the biggest challenges for voting online is identity verification. There are four respected and certified companies that we are reviewing for this critical service. They offer a method of verifying each person’s government-issued identification card quickly and easily online which would ensure each and every person receives one and only one vote.

Meanwhile our PeopleVote website will allow voting using a simplified and easy validation method so the public can see how easy and effective it can be to vote online.

Current Voting Methodology

Until the PeopleVote.US is fully functional and recognized as the official electoral process it is critical we all vote in November using the past voting methodology.

In 2016 only 136,669,276 people voted in America. That was less than 56% of the voting age population. For 2020 we had a record turnout but now the republicans are passing laws to make voter suppression worse than ever.

Voter Registration Deadlines

Every state except North Dakota requires citizens to register if they want to become voters. Depending on your state, the registration deadline could be as much as a month before an election.

Check the U.S. Vote Foundation to find your state’s deadline for registering. You can also check your state or territory’s election office for more details.

Voting for the Public

Supposedly America is a democracy. Let the people actually vote and have their votes actually count!!!

Making people go to a voting booth is a deliberate way of preventing people from voting. The term gerrymandering was created because the abuse by political parties was so extensive in where they set up voting districts. That was first done in Boston in 1812 and over the last 200 years the corruption has just become far worse.

Next we must make it easier and more accessible so everyone can vote using modern technology. Almost everyone has access to a smartphone or a computer. The technology is easily available and we should move voting to the internet.

For the small percentage that do not have access to internet, they could go to a library and use their computers, use an internet cafe, or mail in their ballots.

Lastly, but probably most importantly, we must abolish the Electoral College! See below for more details.

No More Voting Booths

DEF CON ran a competition and found machines could be hacked within 2 minutes because ”our voting systems are weak and susceptible. Hackers exposed glaring security vulnerabilities in the voting machines manufactured by multiple companies.“

We all have heard stories that some voting machines have been rigged. Europe has rejected electronic voting machines because they are untrustworthy.

With coronavirus, going to a voting place is a health hazard. Recently in Georgia they tried and it was a Complete catastrophe: Georgia primary voting blasted for long lines and malfunctioning equipment“.

In some cases it is because they are old.

”The machines rely on outdated technology — some of it is from the 1990s — to calibrate the touch screens.
… Over time, as people vote, that calibration becomes less and less accurate,“ says Norden. So by the end of a long day of voting, the machines aren’t as accurate as they were in the morning. Also, the sealant that attaches the screen to the machine can deteriorate over time, which causes the screen to be misaligned.“

Bottom line, the voting machines have been getting worse in the last 15 years instead of better. It is time to retire them and upgrade to internet technology.

How the Electoral College Works

Between 2000 and 2016 there has been 5 presidential elections. Of those twice the president elected lost the popular vote. That means 40% of the time the public majority voted for one person yet the other candidate was elected!

Direct from our government’s website: https://www.usa.gov/election

The president and vice president are not elected directly by citizens. Instead, they’re chosen by ”electors“ through a process called the Electoral College.

The Electoral College consists of 538 electors. A majority of 270 electoral votes is required to elect the President. Your state’s entitled allotment of electors equals the number of members in its Congressional delegation: one for each member in the House of Representatives plus two for your Senators.

Who are in the Electoral College that cast these all-mighty votes for President of USA? Well, that is super complicated. This website tries to explain it: About the Electors. The short version is every state does it differently and ”There is no Constitutional provision or Federal law that requires Electors to vote according to the results of the popular vote in their states.“

Faithless Electors are those electoral voters that voted against what the public wanted and how the state required them to vote. Yes, this is as bad as it sounds. Not only do we have an electoral voting system but sometimes the electoral voters refuse to follow the rules of who they should vote for according to their state. This happened with 7 electors in 2016 presidental election!

In summary, 40% of the time the Electoral College has failed to represent the public. That process has proven itself unworthy of our democracy. Time to let the public truly vote using the internet.

Ranked Choice Voting (RCV)

A ranked choice voting system, sometimes called instant runoff, is where voters rank candidates by preference on their ballots. If a candidate wins a majority of first-preference votes, he or she is declared the winner. If no candidate wins a majority of first-preference votes, the candidate with the fewest first-preference votes is eliminated. First-preference votes cast for the failed candidate are eliminated, lifting the second-preference choices indicated on those ballots. A new tally is conducted to determine whether any candidate has won a majority of the adjusted votes. The process is repeated until a candidate wins an outright majority. For more detailed description and examples, BallotPedia.org is a good resource. The www.FairVote.org endorses and recommends Ranked Choice Voting as a superior and more fair method of electing officials. There are several states and countries that are already using this methodology successfully. It is time we start using this for Presidential elections!

RCV In Use Today from Wikipedia

Ranked choice voting is used for state primary, congressional, and presidential (beginning in 2020) elections in Maine and for local elections in more than 20 US cities including San Francisco, California; Oakland, California; Berkeley, California; San Leandro, California; Takoma Park, Maryland; St. Paul, Minnesota; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Portland, Maine; Las Cruces, New Mexico; and St. Louis Park, Minnesota. New York City is by far the largest voting population in the US that has opted for RCV, pending implementation in 2021.

It was used by all voters in four states in the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries.

Without using Ranked Choice Voting we end up with the Spoiler Effect because nobody wants to vote for a candidate that might split the vote. These videos explain it best:

Demonstration for Ranked Choice Voting

This PeopleVote.US website is built to run ranked choice voting elections.

Click here for an example of 100,000 votes cast for 6 fake candidates. This shows how the least popular is disqualified and those votes are redistributed.

In Summary

The Electoral College does not work and is no longer necessary. It was started before we had internet. We now have internet and it is time to let the people actually vote for who they want as President.

We need to change to a Ranked Choice Voting system. This is easily done as a website and phone app which this PeopleVote.US clearly proves.

Spread the word and tell everyone you know to cast their vote here. We can prove voting via the internet is more efficient and effective. share on Facebook   share on Twitter
